About me

Sissy Zimmerman was born and raised in a very active and large family in Houston, Texas.

For College, Sissy came East to study at Mount Vernon College in Washington, DC.  She continued her undergraduate education at the University of Texas in Austin, with a Major in Latin American Studies and a minor Sociology.  Sissy returned to Washington for her Graduate degree in Early Childhood Education from The Washington Montessori Institute and then began teaching at Post Oak Montessori in Houston.

Sissy then started her real estate career in Houston, where she worked for five years before moving to Alexandria in 1988.  Since then she has worked continuously in and around her beloved Old Town Alexandria.

McEnearney Associates, Inc. has been Sissy’s real estate “home” for 25 years.  She and her partners, Vici Boguess and Clay Burke in the BBZ Group bring seasoned professionalism and fun to every real estate transaction.

In her spare time, Sissy is a committed volunteer. She is an active Board Member of the Washington, DC chapter of St. John’s Community Services, a non-profit organization founded in 1868 supporting students with disabilities.  Sissy’s sparkling spirit is evident in her joy of working with wonderful kids, whom she currently tutors on both the elementary and high school levels.

Sissy enjoys traveling, entertaining in her home in Old Town, and being surrounded by her extended family and friends.  “Aunt Sissy” is the Godmother of 16, Aunt to 12 and Great Aunt to 8….and will take on any that want to call her Aunt as well!   Sissy finds peace by being near the ocean, spending some of her vacation time in Watch Hill, Rhode Island and winter break in Delray Beach, FL where she can often be seen swimming in the ocean or driving around in her old station wagon the Blue Bomber.
