HayesWood Homes offers decades of combined life and work experiences in Alexandria. Chris and Gordon each embody a steadfast dedication to the community and to their families—from coaching and deep involvement in Alexandria schools, to local sponsorships. Chris and Gordon understand that buying or selling a home requires more than simply getting through the transaction. The right choice in a real estate decision begins with considering a variety of family, personal and financial needs.
Working with HayesWood Homes, clients benefit from a team effort that offers much more than just two individual agents. They offer a full array of services and around-the-clock attention for their clients’ needs. In a situation that may require cleaning, a handyman, landscaping, and more—they go beyond offering trusted vendor recommendations and will actually work directly with the contractors on your behalf. You can rest assured that Gordon and Chris will be extremely responsive and being a team allows them to answer questions around the clock.
This team offers an extremely thorough understanding of the area in which they live with their families and work on a day-to-day basis. Chris was born and raised in Alexandria, and Gordon was raised in Fairfax County and has resided in Alexandria for 30 years. Having a history of residing and working in this area has allowed for repeat clients seeking assistance through many of life’s changes. Some long-time clients have progressed through a “round-trip cycle” of sorts: from renting a condo, to expanding to a single-family home, and back through downsizing.
Before they formed their business partnership, they formed a friendship over a shared enthusiasm for sports. Gordon and Chris are avid D.C. area sports fans and attend many local games including professional, college and high school events This enthusiasm has carried over into both of their involvements with coaching local youth teams. HayesWood Homes is also a sponsor of West Potomac and T.C. Williams High Schools. Go Wolverines and Go Titans!
As a lifetime resident of Northern Virginia and having started in real estate at a young age, Gordon offers his clients the benefit of three decades of real estate experience and extensive knowledge of the area. During his career, he has owned rental properties and renovated more than twenty homes. He understands the local market and understands the real estate industry like the back of his hand.
Gordon received his bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1986 from Mary Washington College and studied International Economics at the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria. He became a licensed REALTOR® in 1986, and received a Broker’s license shortly thereafter in 1991, at the age of 27. He continues to be a top producer in the business.
Listing homes are Gordon’s primary passion in the real estate business, but he is also a reputable buyer representative. He has never considered his job to be as simple as “selling houses to clients.” Instead, Gordon has the proven and trusted experience to help guide you through the transaction while making the best overall decision, whether you are purchasing, selling, renting, renovating or financing.
Gordon is a trusted advocate within the community, most notably as a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and through his work with the Inova Hospitals. He lives in Alexandria with his wife, Lauren, and they have four daughters.
His family has been setting records in Alexandria schools—from the Meeting House Cooperative preschool years, to St. Paul’s kindergarten years, now for the 19th straight year at the Alexandria Country Day School, and into high school ages, when his daughters have attended West Potomac High School. Gordon served 2 terms on the Board of Trustees at ACDS, and many of his clients first met him on the basketball court and soccer fields where he has coached for years.
When he is not dedicating time to supporting/coaching youth sports and watching his own daughters compete, he also enjoys Bethany Beach, Delaware and other travel.
Chris is a true embodiment of the Alexandria community. He was born and raised in this community and grew up in the Parkfairfax, Rosemont and also for a time in South Alexandria. Chris bought his first home in Vienna, VA, but has notable experience owning properties in the City of Alexandria. In his work through HayesWood teams, Chris offers clients more than real estate advice—you will also find a trustworthy source of knowledge about family and community life in Alexandria.
Chris' education includes a B.A. in Communications from Bethany College and an M.S. in Telecommunications from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. While at IU, Chris taught television production classes and worked for the athletic department shooting the official team films/tapes for Bob Knight's basketball team and Sam Wyche's football team. Chris' love of sports continues today by staying active and getting to the gym as often as his schedule allows.
Prior to working in real estate, Chris spent many years in the corporate world. He spent seventeen years in sales in the telecommunications industry, including launching both the DirecTV and XM Radio satellite services. He understands the rigors that many of his clients face on a day-to-day basis. He was transferred for work three times in a six-year period, so he also has experience relocating and buying a house in a new city.
Chris works hard for his clients to make their experience of home buying or selling as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible. Chris knows how to read the market and keeps his clients' best interests in mind every step of the way. The majority of his business comes from referrals, which speaks to the high level of satisfaction of his clients.
Chris currently resides in Braddock Heights with his wife Katy, who is also a native Alexandrian, and son Harrison.
